It will not be much and is actually a lot less than you would have spent at your regular veterinarian (we're talking a couple hundred dollars). If you find the puppy you are looking for and you fulfill the conditions set by the shelter, you will be asked to make a small donation to cover the subsidized cost of the dog's spay or neuter, microchip, heartworm test, and vaccines. Shelter puppies and adult dogs may not be free, but they are cheap and well worth your consideration. Shelters are a great place to find healthy adult dogs and even puppies.
